Change EBS volumetype from gp2 to gp3 with powershell script

Amazon has developed a new EBS gp3 volume that offers better performance and a cost saving of 20%. So by using this type of EBS volume one can reduce their EBS costs by 20%.

Changing the EBS volume from gp2 to gp3 is a simple task, you just need to select the EBS volume and change its volume type by selecting the gp3 option from the drop-down list.

Although changing the volume type for a single EC2 instance or a single EBS volume is simple. However, if you have multiple instances running in your account or region, it becomes a tedious, time-consuming, and error-prone task as we have to select each gp2 volume and change the volume type to gp3.

Keeping the above benefits and problems in mind we have written a PowerShell script that will convert all the gp2 volumes in a region to gp3 and saves our time, and effort and most importantly reduce our AWS bills as we have changed our EBS volume type which is cheaper and better.
